History of the Rohrbach Brewing Company

Founded in 1991 as a small family owned and operated microbrewery and restaurant, the Rohrbach Brewing Company opened its first restaurant and small seven-barrel brewery in 1992 in the Historic German House in Rochester’s South Wedge neighborhood. Rohrbach’s purchased and renovated a building on Rochester’s west side, and opened a 120-seat restaurant, and a larger twenty-barrel brewery in its current operation on Buffalo Road in 1995.

 

Rohrbach’s ales and lagers are made with only the finest ingredients available worldwide, including; two-row malted barley from Belgium and the freshest hops from Europe and the Pacific Northwest. All of their lagers and ales are delivered cold and fresh, with no artificial preservatives or flavor deteriorating pasteurization. This insures the customers enjoy them at their peak of freshness. This is why for over a decade loyal Rohrbach customers have been coming from near and far for these premium high quality ales and lagers.

 

It is not only the use of quality ingredients which has helped the Rohrbach Brewing Company to grow and prosper, but their commitment to the principles on which they were founded. Their philosophy is to treat employees as if they are family and part of an important team. The team then uses its talents to handcraft and serve the freshest foods, ales and lagers from the world’s finest raw materials and ingredients. As a result Rohrbach’s Restaurant and Microbrewery is a six time winner of the Domocrat and Chronicle’s – Rochester’s Choice Awards for best local beer.

 

Today the Rohrbach Brewing Company has been brewing handcrafted ales and lagers in Rochester, New York for over a decade. Many of their customers are regulars and now part of their extended family, and their award winning ales and lagers are proudly served at over 100 “certified tap houses” throughout Rochester and upstate New York.
